The OHS Pipe Organ Database

BuilderID 1417

Builder Identification

Los Angeles, California, 1904?–1988.

Additional Notes

  • From the OHS PC Database, derived from A Guide to North American Organbuilders, by David H. Fox (Richmond, Va.: Organ Historical Society, 1991). —

(Established by Edward L. Crome in Los Angeles, California, 1904?*); active in 1988.

*The parentheses and question mark are in Fox's Guide. Assuming Edward L. Crome and the 1904 date are correct, this presents a conflict with the entry for Crome & Varnum where Edward L. was partner with James Varnum in 1906. The simplest resolution would be that Crome opened his solo venture in 1904, took on a partner for a year in 1906, then resumed business under the previous name. —Ed.

At present we have no photographs that should be displayed on this page, though we may well have photographs under a related entry with a different form of the name. We would very much like to have photographs of all builders, nameplates, and other appropriate images in our database. If you can assist us with this project, please send a message to photos@pipeorgandatabase.org. Our photo editor will be happy to assist you.
