    Born 30 Sep. 1828 in Eisenberg, Saxony, Germany; immigrated to the U.S., 1849; with Irwin's Institute of Danbury, Connecticut, 1849-1850, teacher; in Danbury Connecticut, 1850-1856, music teacher, piano tuner; in Lake Mills, Wisconsin, 1856-1858, hardware retailer; in Watertown, Wisconsin, 1858-1881, music retailer, melodeon {reed organ} builder, pipe organbuilder by 1869; with Northwestern College, music teacher; in La Crosse, Wisconsin, 1882 to after 1885, organbuilder, director of Germania Society; died 9 Apr. 1898 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
