Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, c. 1882–1900.
Active in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, c. 1882.
August Bach was born in the German Confederation in 1845. He and his wife Dorthea immigrated to the U.S. in 1881. He was active in the organ business in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, c. 1882 so it is assumed he had some prior training in Europe.
He is still listed as living in Philadelphia in the 1900 census, but no longer listed anywhere in the 1910 census. No death record for August or Dorthea has been found during that period, they may have returned to Europe.
There are no entries in the database that describe organs by August Bach.

On the other hand, there are both individuals and firms who are responsible for conserving historic organs through location, or preserving the usefulness of pipe organs through rebuilding or making modifications to existing instruments. In these cases, we are proud to acknowledge their contributions to the ongoing artistic tradition of the pipe organ in America through individual entries in our online database.
