    Born 1834; father of Edwin Bancroft Hedges, Jr.; graduate of Westfield Academy; with William Johnson firm of Westfield, Massachusetts, age 18, apprentice pipemaker, head of pipemaking department, c. 1854-1866; had pipe shop in annex of Johnson factory; held local government office; died 1903; succeeded by his son.

    Staff: Thomas Dyson. {Distinction of staff from employees of Johnson & Son is not clear.}
