    Born Feb. 18, 1951 in Baltimore, Maryland; attended Susquehanna University 1969-1970; with James Akright in Baltimore, Maryland, 1966-1968; with Lewis & Hitchcock of DC area, 1968-1969; established proprietorship in Selinsgrove, Pennsylvania, 1969, styled McFarland & Visscher, later James R. McFarland & Co.; relocated to Millersville, Pennsylvania; technical director with Columbia Organ Works of Columbia, Pennsylvania, 1987, and concurrent independent work as James R. McFarland & Co.; active in both firms, 1991; with S. D. G. Organ Service of Millersville, Pennsylvania, 1995.
