Technical Details

Electro-pneumatic (EP) pitman chests.

Three manuals. 7 divisions. 63 stops. 111 registers. 102 ranks. 5570 pipes. Manual compass is 61 notes. Pedal compass is 32 notes.

The organ is in side chambers at the front of the room, with visible façade pipes or case front. Traditional style console with roll top.

Drawknobs in vertical rows on angled jambs. Balanced swell shoes/pedals, standard AGO placement. Adjustable combination pistons. AGO Standard (concave radiating) pedalboard. Reversible full organ/tutti thumb piston. Reversible full organ/tutti toe stud. Combination action thumb pistons. Combination action toe studs. Coupler reversible toe studs.

  • An article in The New York Times, December 18, 2005, described the relocation of this instrument by the Organ Clearing House to First Baptist Church on 79th Street. (James Cook. December 19, 2005)

  • Updated through online information from Stephen Hall. -- Removed in 2005, replaced by Schoenstein Opus 156 (Gallery) and Opus 157 (Chancel). NOTE: Although it had only one opus number, R-169 was two complete instruments, a three-manual chancel organ, and a complete gallery organ with its own two-manual console (rocker tab). In 2001, the Gallery organ was sold through the Organ Clearing House and moved to All Saints Church in River Ridge, Louisiana. In 2005, the Chancel organ was sold, also through the Organ Clearing House, and moved to First Baptist Church in Manhattan (Database Manager. May 4, 2011)
