Technical Details

Austin Universal Air Chests(©).

Four manuals. 10 divisions. 116 stops. 137 ranks. Manual compass is 61 notes. Pedal compass is 32 notes.

The organ is in chambers to the sides at the front of the room. There are no visible pipes. Traditional style console. The console is in a fixed position, right.

Drawknobs in vertical rows on angled jambs. Balanced swell shoes/pedals, standard AGO placement. Adjustable combination pistons. AGO Standard (concave radiating) pedalboard. Crescendo Pedal. Reversible full organ/tutti thumb piston. Reversible full organ/tutti toe stud. Combination action thumb pistons. Combination action toe studs. Coupler reversible thumb pistons. Coupler reversible toe studs.

Notes

  • Originally installed in 1928-29 as 4/75 Austin Op. 1586; in 1961, Austin rebuilt the organ added a new console and made extensive tonal changes and additions that culminated in 1972 with 137 ranks. (Jeff Scofield. May 12, 2014)
  • A fire on August 7, 1993 destroyed the console and the organ sustained smoke damage. The organ was cleaned and restored; a new 5-manual console was built by Guilbaut-Therien; James A. Konzelman installed a new MultiSystem relay and switching system, as well as making significant tonal changes; the organ now has 138 ranks. (Steven E. Lawson. April 1, 2015)
