Notes

  • Updated through online information from John McCraney.
On Monday, February 15, 2016, there was an article with photo on the Yahoo site stating that the church would be (or perhaps now is) closed because too many repairs are needed. The photo shows scaffolding around the towers. The cost for repairs is about three million dollars, but the congregation has been able to raise only about $100,000. (Database Manager. March 2, 2016)
  • Updated through online information from Steven Wojcik.
I attended Mass there on February 21, 2016 and the organ was working. On talking with the staff at the parish, the organ is playable but not completely. They are planning to repair it. If anyone at the organ society wishes to donate for the repair of the organ, please call the parish at 312-226-2300 or click this link to donate: http://www.stadalbertchicago.org/pipe-organ-restoration.html Thank you. They are conducting an active fundraising campaign and have raised close to $2 million to repair the towers. The Archdiocese has not yet sent them a closure notice. The parish is planning to petition to stay open given the large influx of funds to repair the church. (Database Manager. April 4, 2016)
  • The last mass was held on July 14, 2019; the church was closed by the diocese the next day. (Jeff Scofield. August 7, 2019)
