  • Self-contained organ, all pipes inside console. (Thurlow Weed. June 1, 2019)
  • The organ was on display at the 1929 conference of the Texas Funeral Directors and Embalmers in Houston. Austin funeral director Thurlow Weed purchased the instrument and arranged for its installation in his funeral home in Austin. The two-manual HO/RO ("Home Organ" or "Residence Organ") consisted of three ranks: Flute 61 pipes; Quintadena 37 pipes, and Violin 37 pipes. The bottom 12 pipes of the Flute were mounted on the outside rear of the console. All other pipes installed, along with blower and vacuum, inside the console. The Quintadena and Violin borrowed the bottom 24 notes from the Flute. The front panels left and right of the manuals (at the ends of the horseshoe) opened, with a pneumatic roll player on one side on a pull-out shelf, and roll storage on the other side. The funeral home employed a quartet and an organist, which were provided for funerals at no charge. (Thurlow Weed. June 1, 2019)
