Bruno Cannarsa's obituary gives his father's name as Anthony. It states, "He was preceded in death by two brothers: Anthony and Henry," and that one brother, Virgil, was still living. There is no mention of Alighiere.

The grave marker for Anthony M. Cannarsa and his wife gives his birth year as 1896 and his death year as 1964. He was a veteran of World War I, serving in the United States Army as a sergeant in the Medical Corp. His wife was Solvieg (Sylvia) (1902-1981).
