Born c. 1804 in Massachusetts, we have no record of Horatio Davis' early life. He was partner of William Stevens and James Jewett in Stevens, Davis & Jewett of Boston, Massachusetts, in 1853; then briefly a partner with Thomas Appleton in Appleton & Davis of Reading, Massachusetts, 1856.
