Schumacher closed the firm in Lakeland in the late 1980s and moved to Daytona Beach, Florida. He continued doing mostly service work in Florida for a few more years, retiring around 1997. He continued as a church musician until 2016, retiring from St. Mary's Episcopal Church in Daytona Beach where he had directed the choir and his wife had been organist.

Born 1931 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin; graduate of Concordia College; with Dennis Klug in Lakeland, Florida, 1974; associated with Wicks firm; partner with Klug in Klug & Schumacher of Lakeland, Florida, 1975-1983; became sole owner of firm upon death of Klug; active in 1985.
