James Cole established James Cole & Co. in Melrose, Massachusetts, circa 1908 after his brief partnership with James Treat ended. The firm relocated to Malden, Massachusetts by 1917; and was in Medford, Massachusetts, 1925. The firm lasted until 1932, using several different forms of the Cole name on nameplates.
