Database Manager on November 21, 2018:

Aeolian-Skinner president Joseph S. Whiteford and his father, a prominent Baltimore attorney, were both WMC graduates (1943 and 1906 respectively); in addition to donating the organ for the 800-seat chapel, they also donated the carillon in the chapel tower; the organ console was the 1939 console from Bruton Parish, Williamsburg, rebuilt for this installation.

Established in 1867, the school was known as Western Maryland College until 2002 when it was renamed McDaniel College in honor of an alumnus who gave a lifetime of service to the college.

From McDaniel College publicity information: -- "In 2010 a complete renovation of the organ was made possible by a generous gift from college alumnae Louise S. Widdup. The Di Gennaro-Hart Organ Company of McLean, Va., completed the renovation with tonal regulations by Lawrence Trupiano and Bynum Petty."
