Jack Umholtz on August 17, 2023:

Per the secretary of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church at 35 North Ninth Street, Good Shepherd is the result of a 1959 merger of Zion [German] Lutheran that was in the 1300 block of Market Street and St. James Lutheran at 35 North Ninth Street.

The merged churches continue to use the St. James Lutheran building at 35 North Ninth Street for worship services.

Having been a substitute organist at Good Shepherd for a Sunday morning service 35 (+) years ago, from memory I can confirm the organ is a 2/6 Moller Artiste, with the pipes installed in two, free standing cabinets in opposite corners of the front of the nave. The one cabinet housed the Principal and Bourdon, and a quint rank; the other housed a String (Salicional?), Celeste, and Trompette. I will be meeting with the church secretary in the next several weeks to photograph and better document this instrument.
