Updated through on-line information from James C. Burke.  -- Primary source documents housed in Special Collections at William M. Randall Library at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington catalogued as the St. James Collection contain assembly instructions for this organ transmitted by Edward Winslow as signed by William Goodrich, organ builder. The instructions reference three stops, "Open Diapason, Stopt Diapason, and Hautboy." The organ was installed by John Sargent for the fee of $25. A receipt for work by Sargent dated 30 September 1823 includes the note "taking out the pipes in the middle of the organ ... to come at the stops to make the opposite." A letter to George Jardine, organ builder, 548 Pearl Street, NY dated May 1848 icludes the notations "Freight of old organ to New York", and "old organ in N.Y. - $400." Identified through on-line information from James C. Burke, Ph.D..  -- Church records dated 21 October 1818 indicated than an organ in nine boxes was shipped by Edward Winslow from Boston to Wilmington on the schooner "New Priscilla."
