Database Manager on March 18, 2010:

Identified through online information from John Igoe. -- When the present church was built, the parish purchased a new pipe organ from the historic Hook & Hastings Company of Boston, their 1931 opus #2600. (The master list of Hook & Hastings organs says that this organ was built for Calvary Methodist Church, Union City, NJ. It is believed that this church was not able to raise the funds for the organ, and it was sold instead to St. Benedict.) This organ is assumed to have had 3 manuals and keyboard and about 1,000 pipes. By 1980 the organ was approaching 50 years of age, and becoming decrepit, so a used Wicks organ was purchased and installed with some parts of the Hook & Hastings retained. All that remains of the Hook and Hastings is:
- Gallery console shell
- Pedal 16 Open Wood and its chest
- Resonators of Great trumpet
- Great 4' Octave
-static reservoir
