The arrangement of Pedal pipes is most curious; while the pedals begin on GGGG, the chest begins with FFFF. Hence, as one plays up the pedals he plays GGGG through EEE, followed by FFFF through CCC pipes. The coupling is, of course, normal.

Legend has it that the first organ for this church, also by George Stevens, was lost at sea during shipment. This eventuality apparently did not dampen the spirits of the people fo First Church, as they purchased a worthy replacement to complement their striking church edifice.
