Kimball 2-manual, 6-rank theatre organ, Opus 6842, 1924 - installed at St. John's by Balcom & Provorse in 1930. In 1994, Mrs. Mary Waltz decided to give the gift of a new pipe organ in memory of her husband, Robert Waltz, Sr., who sang in the choir and was a lay reader. The old Kimball was donated to the National Pipe Organ Trust to be installed in an Everett, WA. fine arts theatre. The organ is installed at the front on the left side in a chamber. It has two facades - one behind the pulpit and one facing across the chancel with the keydesk underneath. The Manual I 8' Principal is in the two facades. The facade behind the pulpit contains pipes 7 thru 17 (11 pipes). Pipes 18 thru 23 (6 pipes) are in the center flat of the facade over the keydesk. Only the center pipe of that flat is a dummy. The two facade flats of 3 and 7 pipes on either side of the center flat contain the first 20 pipes of the 4' Octave. Notes 1 - 6 of the 8' Principal are borrowed from the bass of the Manual II 8' Gedackt. The first 24 notes of the Manual I 8' Rohrflöte are also borrowed from the Manual II 8' Gedackt. The Manual I II Sesquialtera is a half-draw stop. The shank is notched and in half-draw position the full-compass 2-2/3' register is available. In fully-drawn position the tenor g, 1-3/5' Tierce component is added. The first 19 pipes of the II Sesquialtera Nasard component are pitched at 1-1/3'. It breaks back to 2-2/3' at tenor G (note 20). The three stops shared between the two manuals: 4' Rohrflöte, 2' Superoctave, and 8' Trumpet all have notched shanks. When half-drawn they play on Manual I. When fully-drawn, they play on Manual II. These stops can not be registered on both manuals simultaneously. SOURCES: Bond opus list; extant organ [Received from James R. Stettner 2010-11-02.]
