NOTES
This organ was free-standing and encased, and likely had an attached, projecting keydesk.
The façade was most likely 3-sectional containing 23 gold-painted pipes arranged 5-13-5.
17 of these were from the Great 8' Open Diapason.
The stops and couplers were controlled by a miniature keyboard over the Swell keys. Pressing
a labeled white key activated that stop or function. Pressing the adjacent black key canceled
it.
This is a reconstructed, original stoplist. It has been determined from Balcom and Vaughan
files and verified against the extant, electrified organ and its nomenclature, from writing
on the original pipes, and from comparison with other extant and documented examples of the
builder's work from this period. The exact nomenclature of stops and controls is not verifiable.
In 1939-40, the organ was electrified by Balcom and Vaughan of Seattle, WA. A new console was
provided, and a new 8' Melodia was added to the Great and a new tenor C, 8' Voix Celeste was
added to the Swell - both on a new E-P unit chest.
In 1951, this organ was replaced by a new M.P. Möller. Balcom and Vaughan moved the Estey and
reinstalled it at the Seattle First Church of the Nazarene.
The bass of the Swell 8' Salicional was grooved to the bottom of the 8' Stopped Diapason.
