NOTES
Even before the new [present] sanctuary was built in 1970, the congregation realized
that a new organ would be needed. At a congregational meeting on January 22, 1968, it
was voted to establish an Organ Fund with $500.00 appropriated from the budget. Upon
completion of the new edifice, the Church Council and Organ Committee set about the
task of selecting a builder. In the Spring of 1974, the congregation decided to pur-
chase a new pipe organ to be built by Balcom and Vaughan of Seattle. The 2-manual,
7-register, 9-rank instrument was first used for worship and dedicated on May 11, 1975.
The inaugural recital by guest organist Paul Reitz was given on June 1, 1975.
The organ is installed on the central axis of the room with an exposed Great and ex-
pressive Swell immediately behind. The exposed Great is 3-registers: 8'/4' Principal,
8'/4' Rohr Flöte, and III-rank Mixture 2'. The expressive Swell is 4-registers and
4-ranks with: 8'/2' Bordun, 8' Gemshorn, 4'/2' Principal, and 8' Hautbois. The Pedal
division has no independent registers, and is taken from extensions and borrows from
the Great and Swell.
