From the OHS PC Database, derived from A Guide to North American Organbuilders, by David H. Fox (Richmond, Va.: Organ Historical Society, 1991; rev. ed., 1997, with updated information). -

Established by the brothers Joseph-Claver Casavant Jr. and Samuel Casavant in Saint-Hyacinthe, Québec, Canada, 1879; the Canadian firm also operated a branch factory in South Haven, Michigan, 1912-1918.

The firm was purchased by a New Brunswick furniture manufacturer in 1976; subsidiary in Plano, Texas, 1985; reorganized as a limited partnership in 1994 - thereafter doing business under the name " Casavant Frères."
