He was partner with his father Alvinza Andrews in Sangerfield, New York, 1859. Alvinza retired in 1857, George may have continued the partnership with John Gale Marklove, before moving to Oakland, California, 1886. He was briefly with Thomas Whalley of Oakland, CA, in 1888; before re-establishing his own firm in Oakland. He died in 1904, and was succeeded by son Charles who continued the firm until 1906. The firm's closing may have been due to the frequent earthquakes in the area, the great earthquake of 1907 which almost destroyed San Francisco was preceded by several smaller quakes for years prior to the major event.
