From the OHS PC Database, derived from A Guide to North American Organbuilders, by David H. Fox (Organ Historical Society, 1991). -

Active in Austin, Texas, by 1899; last listed 1929.

Staff: Edward Pfeifer

Fox lists an Edward Pfeifer as a German immigrant who farmed in Texas before opening a music store and organ shop in Austin, Texas around 1875. If this person is the owner of E. Pfeifer & Son, the Edward Pfeifer listed under staff is likely his son. -Ed.

From Builders Editor Stephen Hall: Information discovered by Pat Bozeman and forwarded to the database by George Bozeman, June 20, 2019. —

Edward Pfeifer, born 1839 in Algiers of German parentage. Apparently moved to Germany prior to immigrating to the United States as at least two of his sons were born there. Immigrated to the United States in 1883, in Travis county Texas by 1900. Occupation listed as "organ manufacturer" in federal census of 1900. Sons Edmond, born Germany 1866, and Evald, born Germany 1880, also listed as in the same occupation with their father.

1) Based on this information, it is likely that the the staff member's name should be Edmond rather than Edward, and that he was later joined by his younger brother, Evald.
2) We do not have information to reconcile the dates in these two entries. —Ed.
