Successor of Farrand & Votey; established by William R. Farrand, 1897, reed organs, pianos; bankrupt in 1915.
Farrand & Votey had begun as a manufacture of reed organs and pianos, the firm purchased the assets of the Roosevelt firm of New York and added a pipe organ division. The firm split into two entities in 1897: William Farrand retained the original portion of the business, while Edwin Votey made the pipe organ division into a separate company, Votey Organ Company. -Ed.
