Born 1770; son of Baltzer Krauss, Jr., brother of Andrew Krauss; he studied at Hosensack Academy of Chestnut Hill, Pennsylvania, and was a teacher there, 1794-1795.
John Krauss built organs with his brother, Andrew Krauss, in Kraussdale, Pennsylvania, 1796-1812; he was also a builder of wool carding machines, a surveyor, and a farmer; John Krauss died in 1819.
