Gottfried C. Reck was born September 28, 1942 in Warnitz, Neumark, Germany. He was with Detlef Kleuker of Brackwede, Germany, 1960-1963; in the German army, 1963-1965. He returned to Detlef Kleuker, 1965-1966.

Reck immigrated to the United States in 1966. He was with the M. P. Möller firm of Hagerstown, Maryland, for only 6 weeks. He then started with Steiner Organs of Louisville, Kentucky, in September of 1966. He soon became a partner in the firm with Phares L. Steiner, the new firm was titled Steiner-Reck of Louisville, Kentucky, 1968. Reck became president of the firm in 1988.
