Charles Eberline on June 15th, 2025:
The entry "Topcliff, C. M." in David Fox's Guide to North American Organbuilders, identical in the 1991 and 1997 editions except for the small change of "active in 1925" (1991 edition) to "active 1925" (1997 edition), is an error for C. M. Topliff. Of Fox's two sources, D: Dec. 1911, Dec. 1925:30, the first is a brief article in The Diapason, December 1911, [2], that begins as follows: "C. M. Topliff is the designer and builder of a successful organ opened October 26 in the North Presbyterian Church at Rochester, N. Y., Mr. Topliff's home city." The second is an advertisement in The Diapason, December 1925, 30, headed "C. M. TOPLIFF, Organ Builder," which gives his address as 41 Strong St., Rochester, N. Y. See main entry: C. M. Topliff.
