Englishman James-Baille Hamilton invented the Vocalion Organ, a reed organ using pressure instead of suction, but was unable to find an interest for it in England. He moved to the U.S. and started production with the Hamilton Vocalion Organ Mfg. Co. beginning in 1886. By 1890, there were changes in business arrangements and the company was associated with the Canadian firm, Mason and Risch. The company maintained locations in Worcester and New York for the Vocalion. These were sold by the New York Church Organ Company. By 1903 Aeolian acquired the
company and production ceased somewhere around 1910.
