Daniel Angerstein was born in San Antonio, Texas in 1947. He is the brother of Linda Angerstein. He apprenticed with Rubin S. Frels of Victoria, Texas, 1967-1970; and attended Texas Lutheran College of Seguin, Texas. He was a voicer with the Aeolian-Skinner firm of Boston, Massachusetts, from 1970 until its closing in 1972. He then became partner with another Aeolian-Skinner former employee, Allen B. Kinzey, in Kinzey-Angerstein Organ Co. of Wrentham, Massachusetts, in 1972. After the partnership ended, he established Angerstein & Associates of Stoughton, Massachusetts, in 1983.

In 1987, he was offered a position with M. P. Möller of Hagerstown, Maryland as associate tonal director, he became tonal director in 1989. After Möller ceased operation in 1993, he was with the successor firm, King of Instruments of Chicago, Illinois and Hagerstown, Maryland, in 1994, as vice-president, and tonal director. With the closing of King of Instruments in October of 1994, he established Daniel L. Angerstein Organ Works in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Angerstein relocated to Hendersonville, North Carolina in 1998 and continues working there.
