Database Manager on September 13th, 2008:

Updated through online information from Paul Whitehouse. -- A former parishioner who did an historic building survey of Nativity in 1995. The present edifice was built between 1857 and 1859. Included in a March 1861 Treasurer's report to the vestry, listing expenditures for the new edifice, is "Organ $1000 - allowance to Mr Knauf $30 & Incidentals $5". Then in 1872, in a Statement of Receipts and Expenditures, among the expenditures was cash paid to "H W Knauff for repairing organ $60". However, it was "Mr. Pilcher of Louisville" who was contracted for several visits to make repairs in 1881. Nothing else of significance is reported before it was replaced by the 1902 Pilcher (Opus 428). Its final disposition is uncertain, but I can pull some things from the Vestry minutes that may have some value.
