Paul R. Marchesano on June 21st, 2024:

The organ is in excellent condition with everything functioning perfectly. Since its installation, it served First Church of Christ, Scientist, Galesburg, IL. The church was sold in June 2024 to the Christian Tabernacle of Galesburg. The organ has 14 ranks (969 pipes, 15 speaking stops) on the usual Austin Universal Air Chest with one main reservoir, and a 25-note set of nickel-plated β€œClass A” Deagan chimes with electric multi-volume strikers. The blower is a 3-hp Spencer Turbine (serial no. 831694), which supplies 7” of static wind. In 1977, the Austin Organ Co. releathered the instrument, replaced the original Great Open Diapason 8’ with new pipes from tenor C, and added a new Great Octave 4’ (73-note independent chest). At the same time, the original Swell Flute 4’ was replaced by a Spitz Principal 4’ and the Oboe was reconditioned and voiced for brighter tone.

Online update from David -- Instrument is in a dry, but pleasant room. Located in a single chamber above Readers' Desk. Not visible. Well balanced for room. Unaltered instrument. Plays very well, but only used once or twice a week. Receives regular care. Unsure of maintenance history but has been taken care of.
