Paul R. Marchesano on January 26th, 2023:
The church building was finished at a cost of $227,000 and dedicated during the week of Novem.ber 25, 1906. The auditorium seated 1,400. The Hook & Hastings firm. of Boston, Massachusetts, installed its opus 2123, a two -manual, twenty-three-register organ. The instrument apparently had tubular-pneumatic action, because this was noted on the Kinetic blower order on July 27, 1915. The threehorsepower unit for 411 wind pressure cost $196.65 and was shipped on August 15. Perceval Owen played the Hook & Hastings for nearly thirty years and died at the console at age sixty-five on November 28, 1942, having just played "Abide with Me" during a choir rehearsal. -- *2007 OHS Atlas*
