According to information contained in the files of the Carnegie Corporation re: the new Midmer organ installed in the church in 1913, the Hook organ was purchased in 1870 for $2,000 and was "worn out; a number of stops out of commission. Needs constant repairs, very unsatisfactory. We cannot consistently dispose of it by sale. May be compelled to resort to secondhand man."
Updated through online information from scot huntington. -- If a stock model instrument, this would have been Size No. 8, (see the OHS publication "the Hook Opus List"). The church acquired a tubular-pneumatic 2-15 Reuben Midmer & Sons installed in the rear gallery in 1914, most likely the replacement for this instrument.
Identified from company publications as edited and expanded in The Hook Opus List 1829-1935, ed. William T. Van Pelt (Organ Historical Society, 1991).
Related Instrument Entries: A. B. Felgemaker Co. (Opus 942, 1907) , M. P. Möller (Opus 10818, 1972ca.)
