This instrument is: Not Extant and Not Playable in this location

Paul R. Marchesano on January 14th, 2022:

From the 1993 OHS Handbook: "When the present owner first obtained the organ, much of the pipework was missing or damaged, and Louisville organbuilder Sam Bowerman replaced it in the course of renovating the instrument. The Open Diapason 8' from D# 28 to the top is from Henry Pilcher's Sons Op. 154, 1879, built for the Green Street Baptist Church in Louisville. The entire 2' stop is from the same instrument; the replacement is a Flageolet rather than a Fifteenth. The 8' string is also a replacement set, using recycled pipes substituted in the 1970's. The Open Diapason 8' borrows notes 1-7 from the Stop Dia. Bass; notes 8-12 are independent and of stopped wood. The Stop Dia. Treble 8' has two stopped wood pipes; the rest of the set is a common metal chimney flute. Notes 1-7 of the Principal 4' are in the center flat of the case; the side flats house half-round wooden pipes. The case pipes, now stencilled, were originally gilded."
