Updated through on-line information from Carrol Hassman. -- The 1912 original was tubular pneumatic, with an electro-pneumatic Echo division at the front of the room. It was rebuilt in 1948 by a local builder named Smith, if current-source memories are correct; same source says Smith worked on a number of Kilgens in the area. At that time the gallery divisions were converted to electro-pneumatic action, the Swell Cornopean was added, as well as 16 & 8' pedal trumpets. The echo division was simply removed during the remodelling changes for Vatican II, c. 1974, but the four-manual console remains. An extant local copy of the stoplist from that time does not show the original echo specification, nor is there a Dolce Cornet listed in the Swell. If the 1987 pedal mixture is old Dolce Cornet pipework, as suspected, the pipes may have been removed and stored in 1948.
Identified through on-line information from Bob Helling. -- Rebuild with additions to the original Kilgen organ.
