Updated by Marilyn Polson, who has heard or played the organ.
I examined this organ in preparation for the 2016 Vermont Chapter A.G.O. tour of Chester. There is no nameplate but according to the Annotated Catalog of Known Pipe Organs in Vermont prepared by Ed Boadway and Stephen Pinel for the 2013 O.H.S. Convention the organ was built by S. S. Hamill in 1898. It replaced an earlier Hamill organ of 1868. A typewritten paper attached to the lid of the keydesk indicates the organ was rebuilt in 1988 by John Wessel and included a new reservoir.
Builder's Nameplate: Possibly Hamill?
