Paul R. Marchesano on November 21st, 2024:

Information received online from Ronald Damholt 2024-11-16: In order to reduce the cost of this project, much of the labor for the instrument's restoration was provided by members of the Chicago-Midwest Chapter of the OHS. The organ included a tremolo and a wind indicator, both of which were also restored. While the 1922 date of this organ's delivery to St. Dominic's was well established (from shipping labels tacked to the Swell box, newspaper packing and documents showing the parish's history, among other sources), Mr. Friesen concluded that this was a rebuild, in smaller form, of Hinners' own instrument of 1908.

Database Manager on October 21st, 2012:

Updated through online information from T. Daniel Hancock. -- The Stopt Diapason, June 1982, reports "The organ is dated c. 1912 [ed: later confirmed 1922] according to the national Extant Organs List, although it is not on the available (incomplete) Hinners opus list. The organ appears to be original to the church, as evidenced by a shipping label which can be seen pasted on the inside of the swell box, and not from the Temple Theatre as previously supposed. (Its physical appearance appears to match its surroundings, as well.)" . . . "The organ is currently unplayable as a result of vandalism several years ago to the wind trunks and the action, although there has not been any serious damage. Some pedal pipes may need regluing; simply the result of aging. Our host, Father Brennan, indicated the church's interest in returning the organ to playing condition. The church has just undergone a major and very beautiful redecorating program and the parishioner level is rebuilding."

Contains parts of Op. 779, 2572 and 2596. Moved from a theatre? Perhaps Temple Theatre?
