Paul R. Marchesano on October 1st, 2025:
The First Baptist Church was established in October of 1861. Four members (three men and one woman) founded the church as only the third church in Carbondale, Illinois. By 1900, the church expanded into its second building located on Main Street. In 2009, the church moved to a new location on South Giant City Road. Information from SIU Archives site

Jeff Scofield on September 3rd, 2024:
The congregation moved to a new location as The View First Baptist Church in 2008; the old building was sold to Memorial Hospital of Carbondale to be used as a memorial garden; the old church building was demolished in August 2009; the View Church apparently later became the Redeemer Community Church.
