The congregation's first known pipe organ, William A. Johnson opus 149, a two-manual, twenty-six-register organ, cost $5,000. Sanctuary and organ were dedicated on May 4, 1864. A collection at a special organ concert netted $408.00.
A scant ten years later the church ordered a much larger organ from the local firm of William H. Clarke & Co.
