The organ was a result of a major gift from Jean Preus Rost which was at the time the largest single gift in the College's history. The design was the result of a collaboration between William B. Kuhlman, Professor of Music and College Organist, and Robert L. Sipe with additional suggestions by Robert Anderson at Southern Methodist University.
The organ is sometimes referred to as the "Rost Memorial Organ."
Updated through online information from Richard C Greene. -- Received from Dobson Pipe Organ Builders:
"While a fine and well-built organ, the more than three decades of intensive use had taken its toll. Our recommendations included a complete cleaning of the instrument, the upgrading of some of the electronic components of the combination and stop actions, the correction of flaws in racking and other areas, and careful re-regulation of the pipes to bring stray notes back into the fold. --Dobson Pipe Organ Builders, Ltd. (2010)"
