Database Manager on December 3rd, 2008:
Identified through information in Unpublished Organ Research Notes of Dr. Stephen Schnurr; as edited by Joseph McCabe, 2008: Alterations and additions to Votteler-Hettche rebuild of relocated Ryder organ of 1874. In 1923, the Antiphonal division (playable from Great and Choir) was installed in the northeast corner of the rear balcony by Votteler-Holtkamp-Sparling, opus 1383. This division was placed on electro-pneumatic action. By the mid-1930-s mechanical problems began to surface in the organ. A letter from Walter Holtkamp, March 30, 1934, indicates that the Great 8- Trumpet "is in very bad condition and practically beyond repair. He recommended replacing it with a 2-2/3- Nazard (Nachthorn) for $137.00, as "this change is in line with the policy of gradually but permanently modernizing and replacing the worn out parts of the organ. The church accepted this proposal on April 6. Also at this time, slide tuners were fitted to the metal flue pipes at a cost of $548.00.
