Updated through on-line information from Myke Flaherty. -- From the web site: "A historic landmark in Terre Haute will soon be honored nationally. The pipe organ inside the Allen Chapel AME Church will be recognized next weekend. The Organ Historical Society will present the church with a Historic Organ Citation. The award has only been given to about 400 organs in the country. The Verney Pipe Organ dates back to 1905 but hasn't worked for 20 years. So a specialist came from Champaign Thursday to repair it. Service Director of Buzard Pipe Organ Builders in Champaign Keith Williams says "It is a very important, unique instrument not only for Terre Haute but it's one of only a very few organs built by this company and the only organ built by this company that still stands in it's original home." The Allen Chapel on Crawford Street will receive the honor Sunday October 25 at 4 p.m."
