The church closed August 2008 with a planned merger with Abbott United Methodist Church; the First Methodist building was to be used by Arts YOUniverse.

Database Manager on July 22nd, 2010:
Updated through on-line information from Jonathan M. Bowen. -- The organ had been vandalized, and in 2010, the organ was purchased and dispersed.

Identified through information in Kinzey and Lawn's <i>E. M. Skinner/Aeolian-Skinner Opus List</i> (OHS 1997). -- "Rebuild of four manual Austin, #589 with new console and additions; dedicated February 26, 1942."
