The organ is believed to have been built for the Strand Theater in Battle Creek, Michigan, and was moved to Northeast Catholic High School for Boys in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1928.

Updated through online information from Angela Villani. -- The 1915 Kimball Organ is currently being restored by a generous grant from the Frederick Haas Foundation. The completion date is expected to be May 2015.

Identified through online information from L. Curt Mangel, III. -- Our staff was asked to inspect a small two manual Kimball organ in Northeast Catholic High School in Philadelphia, which has been slated to be closed on June 30th of this year. We discovered that the organ is marked #7175, and is a rebuild of an earlier instrument with additions. The original instrument is intact, including the original factory paper job labels dated 1915. A single pipe, tenor C of the Open Diapason 8, is hand marked for a theatre. We need to double check the exact name, but it is possible that it is "Strand Theatre." To the original 10 ranks has been added an Octave 4 and a Dolce Cornet III (12.15.17). We are attempting to save the organ and remove it from the auditorium of the school before the building closes in June 2010.
