Steven Bartley on June 22nd, 2025:

From the Staunton Vindicator 5/10/1889: "Mr. John W. Otto of Baltimore, who has been in Staunton several days putting up the organ he built for Christ (Lutheran) church, left for home Wednesday evening. The organ is a first class instrument with 18 stops and 589 pipes. It is located on a slightly raised platform on the left side of the chancel. Prof. Hamer both tried it, and pronounced it a very fine instrument." The present church web site's history section says the congregation built a new building on a different location, in Staunton, 1887-1888.

John W. Otto was the brother in law to August Pomplitz. When Pomplitz died (1874) Otto and Louisa Pomplitz (wife) continued the Pomplitz company until the mid 1880s. Then Otto worked under his own name, until his death (May 1892)

Adam Stein partnered with the Pomplitz Company, 1875, but then became the manager of the Roosevelt branch in Baltimore, until Roosevelt company closed in 1892.
