Jeff Scofield on August 7th, 2020:

Originally installed in First Lutheran Church, Winnipeg, in 1906; relocated to St. Boniface R. C. Cathedral in 1921; rebuilt and enlarged to 3/42 in 1955 as Casavant Op. 2282; destroyed by fire July 22, 1968; the fire was believed to have started with a cigarette tossed by a worker on his way to lunch during paint work on one of the towers; the Basilica had seating nearly 2,500; the town of St. Boniface, across the river from downtown Winnipeg, was amalgamated into the city of Winnipeg in 1971 as a city ward; St. Boniface is one of the larger French communities outside of Québec.
