Alan Laufman, director of the Organ Clearing House, acquired this organ in trade when he relocated a George Hutchings to its home in Dublin, (rebuilt by Phil Beaudry). This organ travelled to several subsequent homes as Alan moved around, generally in private school chapels. It served briefly in the Unitarian Church in Keene when the congregation moved into their parish house during the first energy crisis, to avoid heating the sanctuary. After Alan converted to Catholism and moved to his final home in Harrisville, New Hampshire, he moved the organ into the gallery of St. Denis, the local parish, where Alan became the organist until his death in 2000. Prior to his passing, he gifted the organ to Immaculate Conception, Boston, where it was installed on a platform as a movable continuo instrument. When Immaculate Conception closed in 2010, the organ was removed by David Wallace, and the Jesuits gifted the organ to a monastery somewhere in Connecticut.
Alan believed the organ to be too soft, and removed the swell shades early in the his period of ownership- which he kept track of, but which got lost in the settling of his estate and the consolidation of his various organ storage facilities.
The congregation held its last service September 19, 2010, and was closed.
