Designed and voiced by Americans Gilbert F. Adams, Darwin Klug, and Lawrence Trupiano, and constructed by the craftsmen of the German shop of Franz Heissler, this instrument was dedicated with a recital by Bruce Stevens, 25 October 1992.
The regal tones of the Trumpet and Oboe are based upon the voicing and construction style of the noted 19th-century Parisian builder Aristide Cavaille-Coll. In contrast, the large Pedal Trombone pipes, made of pine, have a German flavor in their powerful yet .refined tone. The Principal chorus of the Great is reminiscent of the Hook organs built in Boston in the 1860s. The Swell Gedackt and the flute-toned Nasard and Tierce mutation ranks, frequently found in instruments from the 17th and 18th centuries, also bear a French pedigree. And finally, the ever popular and universal Salicional and Celeste stops would warm any cold soul. -- from builder ad in *1993 OHS Handbook*
