Paul R. Marchesano on November 1st, 2022:

In 1817, the congregation purchased a pipe organ from Jacob Hilbus of Washington, D.C., for the sum of $1,650. It is believed that this was the first organ used by a Presbyterian congregation in the United States.

In 1835, the church burned and only parts of the building walls were left standing. The Hilbus organ was lost.
